Welcome Letter
by Sibyl McLendon

Ya'ah'teh' and greetings. I hope that your Easter was peaceful and joyous. And filled with chocolate! I hope you enjoy the articles this week. If you go to the MousePages site (http://mousepages.50g.com/issue_23/), you can also read Eagle Dancing's article about the Temperance Card, and an article with great tips for sprucing up your home for Spring without spending much money.
Bobby and I had a nice 21st anniversary. He got a new graphic equalizer for his beloved stereo, and I got a bunch of new books. Now I ask you, who is the intellect in this group? :)
Now that Easter has passed, none of us can deny that it is Spring! I can remember when I was young (oh, sooo long ago!), Easter meant getting out the white shoes. "Never white shoes in Winter, nor black shoes after Easter" was my Mother's creed. Now I just wear brown shoes all year! Anyway, it is Spring, the time of renewal. For Mother Earth, and for us all. Why not try your hand at some gardening this Spring? I am, and I am getting a lot of joy from it. I have 3 african violet plants, blooming away in my kitchen, and I am trying my hand at growing some flowers from seeds that Kim sent me from the UK. If I could just keep my rather fat cat, Dakota, from walking on them on her way to the bay window, all would be well. She has no respect for small, living things, I'm afraid. If she can't eat it, it doesn't exist to her.
We have Kim's second juicing article this week, everything is yummy, so give them a try! Everything Kim does, she does with love and humor. You can't beat that combination. Why not drop her a line, and let her know if you tried any of them or not, or to request an article on a particular subject that you may be interested in? She would really appreciate it, and you will get a nice answer from her. She is such a love.
I hope that you enjoy all the articles this week, and I would like to welcome all the new subscribers! I really appreciate your giving MousePages a try. I always welcome any feedback, positive or negative. Have a wonderful week, everyone. Celebrate Spring!

ARE YOU WILLING TO PROSPER?
by Rhoberta Shaler

Are you willing to prosper in life?

Many people have a feeling that prosperity and spirituality cannot coexist when, in fact, the two cannot truly exist apart. Some think that, at some level, it is "more spiritual" to live in scarcity and lack, to sacrifice and do without. Is there any of that thinking holding you back?

There are a few fundamentals to consider. First, do you believe that living should be natural, spontaneous and enjoyable? To be fully conscious, intelligent, imaginative, intuitive, and doing the right thing at the right time is the goal. To posses a keen anticipation about what you CAN create in life gives you a great reason to get up in the morning, doesn't' it?

To prosper is "to thrive, to flourish, to be successful in every way". Are you willing to entertain this concept as natural rather than as something you have to strive and struggle to achieve?

When you are
spiritually aware
mentally competent
emotionally balanced
self-responsible (mature)
physically vital
in harmony with the rhythms of nature
enjoying mutually supportive relationships
or succeeding in your worthy ventures.....YOU ARE PROSPERING

Each of these is available to you if you will take the necessary steps.
The first step is to clearly understand your major purpose in life. What are you about? What do you stand for? Without a sense of meaningful purpose, you may have a reasonably comfortable lifestyle, but you may neither feel satisfied nor experience all that life has to offer. Switching your thinking from "What's in it for me?" to "What do I have to contribute?" is a good start.

Then think about your unique talents and abilities? Fully explore these. It is not arrogance to know that you do something well. What are you passionate about? Can you use your unique talents and abilities in the pursuit of your passion? Yes, and it is probably the best, and most satisfying, place to use them, too!

What are the most important, significant and valuable things in your life? Recently I was giving a seminar and I asked the folks, "What would you be willing to burn at the stake for?" A bit extreme but they did get the point. If something-a principle, relationship, belief-is truly valuable to you that needs to be demonstrated by you every minute, doesn't it? It cannot be a principle, relationship or belief that is held or lived only when it's convenient or expedient. You have seen this and it is not pretty!

Living your life in integrity with what you value puts you on the direct path to prosperity in all areas of your life. What better time to get these ducks in a row than NOW?

JUICE YOUR WAY TO HEALTH AND BEAUTY!!!!
by Kim Newman

As readers of my previous articles know, I have always maintained that one of the best ways to attain a healthy trouble free skin, is to also eat well. For this reason I have decided to write about juicing fruit and vegetables as a way of easily and quickly absorbing nutrients into your body. Fruit and Vegetables are a wonderful source of many of the essential vitamins, minerals etc that are needed by us on a daily basis.
Mouth watering recipes to 'tickle the taste buds' and provide essential energy, alleviate stress, ward off disease and assist in delaying the ageing process.
Pulp that is left after juicing the fruit can be applied to the skin as a 'mask'. You all know that I believe in using natural products. These are far less expensive than lotions and potions containing mineral oils and petrochemicals which clog the pores and actually are the cause of a lot of problems we encounter. They do not 'balance' the skins natural ph in the majority of cases.
Please, if any of you have specific problems, visit my website, where you will find a list of homemade recipes to suit you, I hope !!! If you have a specific problem please e-mail me. Well, here we go, happy juicing !!!!
Simply add the ingredients of each recipe to the electric juicer and enjoy!!!

PRUNE EXPRESS !!!

Prunes, 4 pitted and soaked overnight in water.
Pears, 2 unpeeled, quartered.
Cooking Apple, 1 medium.

Do I really need to explain why I named this the Express ??!! OK, a fantastic, natural detox juice !!!! A gentle way to assist those with constipation. This juice is of benefit to all once a week to keep things 'going' and 'on the move' !!! It helps to expel all toxins from your body. Go on you coward, try it !!! At night though please, or you might be up and 'running' to the loo during the day !!! If you add the prunes to the juicer last, remove the pulp from the other fruit and use as a face mask. Then add the prunes and juice on !!!

JERUSALEM JOKER !!!

Jerusalem Artichokes, 3 unpeeled but well scrubbed.
Coriander, 1 handful.
Pear, 1 unpeeled.
Carrots, 2 unpeeled.

This will help to keep your blood sugars on an even keel. Please, Diabetics count the fruit sugars as part of your daily 'sugar allowance'. This juice has excellent cleansing, detox properties. This is also ideal for those of us who embark on a restricted food intake day to detox. The Coriander I have added to suppress the rather flatulent effects brought about by the Artichokes !!!! See, I am so very kind to you.........and your partner !!!!!!

RAINBOW FAMILY COCKTAIL !!!

Oranges, 2 peeled but with pith.
Lemon, 1 with peel if thin skinned.
Lime, 1 peeled (unless 'key lime' which has a sweeter peel)
Pink Grapefruit, 1 peeled but with pith.
(Yellow grapefruit can be used but pink gives a better colour).

This mixture of coloured citrus fruit is a WOW drink: it will certainly hit the spot other juices fail to reach !!! I named it a rainbow cocktail due to the beautiful colour of the resulting juice. It is a marvelous detox, cleansing drink for anytime of the day. But, WOW will it wake you up !!
If you are unfortunate enough to wake with a hangover then this is better than the 'hair of any dog' !!!!
Add Lemonade and freeze the juice in the ice cube tray as a refreshing addition to other drinks. Or, make lollypops for the children.

WRINKLE ZAPPER !!!

Apples, 2 unpeeled and quartered.
Cherries, 12ozs stoned if you can be bothered !!!!

Yes, I know it is a pain taking all of the stones out of the cherries but well worth it. If you have a strong enough electric juicer this will not be necessary though. this has the most delicious taste you can imagine, if you like cherries and apples!!! Chose dessert cherries which are much sweeter than the cooking variety. The darker the cherry the more vital nutrients it contains. The juice contains Folic Acid, Carotenoids, Potassium and Vitamin c which together with the following are magnificent at protecting the skin and regenerating cells. (Anthocyanidins and Proanthocyanidins).
The pulp can be applied to the face and neck as a mask. Leave for 5 minutes then rinse with cool water, pat dry.

::~~~~~~~~:::§:::~~~~~~~~::

I hope that you have enjoyed reading these recipes. Though do remember, they do not work by simply reading them !!!! For those of you who don't have a juicing machine, they are readily available in the High Street Stores (note from Sibyl: High Street is a main street in Maldon, where Kim lives) . It is a much quicker way of obtaining the juices and takes care of all of the elbow work for you !!! Juicing machines used to be very expensive, but, as manufacturers encountered competition the prices have made them accessible to all of us.
Healthy competition is very good for all of us !!!!
Have a lovely week, stay healthy and if unwell at the moment, my best wishes to you for a speedy recovery.
Any requests for my article next week ??????
Come on, where is all of my 'feedback' ??????
Bye for now and Love to All.

Going With The Flow Instead Of Swimming Upstream
By Sibyl McLendon

One of the biggest lessons that I have learned in this life is how futile it is to fight inevitability. Life is change; if we stop changing, we stop growing. Life is never going to go exactly the way that you want it to. Something is always waiting to pop up and bite you. The more that you attempt to make life go your way the more that it won't. Your life will be so much more peaceful and smooth if you just learn to stop swimming upstream.
Now, I am not saying that you should just stop making decisions and go whatever way the wind blows. We all have to make decisions every day. We need to make certain decisions, that is just using our personal power to its fullest. But when you come up against an obstacle that you have no control over and that you really don't like, what do you do? Maybe it is a change at your job, a change in someone close to you, or even a change in your health. If this is a major change, and you have no control over it, then the more that you fight, the worse it will be. The only thing that you will get from batting your head against a stone wall is a headache. The chance of you breaking down the wall is nil.
Constant resistance to a change that you cannot control has negative effects on your health, your emotions and the people around you. When presented with a major change that one is resistant to, people tend to obsess about it, quickly becoming a pain to be around. Constant worrying and stressing over a change that you cannot control leads to all sorts of physical problems. And not one of these reactions is going to change the core problem.
It is so much better if you can recognize what is changeable and what is not. If something has manifested in your life that you cannot change, then you must change instead. Being flexible is a true virtue. You must learn to go with the flow, so to speak, instead of always trying to swim upstream, against the current. Ask yourself if this is a change that you can learn to live with. How much does it really impact your life? If it has to do with a job, then maybe you will have to adapt or find another one. If it is a major illness, then flexibility may save your life.
Again, I am not telling you that if you have contracted a major illness, to just lie down and die. But if you have gotten something such as diabetes, MS, or something similar which requires a life-style change, then going with the flow or swimming against it can determine if you survive or not. Chances are, you made this life script for yourself before you decided to come here. You were giving yourself the opportunity to transmute Karma in a big way. Don't blow it by being inflexible and angry; learn your limitations and do the very best that you can every day.
Say that a loved one has adopted an attitude that is causing you pain. After telling them in the best way that you can that they are hurting you, they choose not to change. You can't change them. We can never, ever, change another person. We can only change ourselves. Rather than experiencing constant pain, wouldn't it be better to let it go? Your pain is caused by your wish that things would be different. If they aren't going to be, then adapt.
Your life is going to be just as easy, or just as difficult as you decide it is going to be. Learn to relax, learn to accept, learn to flow. You will be surprised at the inner peace that acceptance can bring.

The Serenity Prayer:
GOD, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living ONE DAY AT A TIME;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

As my son once told me, the most profound line in this prayer is "the wisdom to know the difference". Learn that, and you have learned the secret to true peace and happiness.

The Power Of Music

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

The Temperance Card
by Eagle Dancing

Temperance depicts a winged female pouring water from one cup into another. She stands with one foot on land, and the other in water. The sun rises behind her.
Most people associate the word temperance with abstention from alcohol or drugs. But it has other, older meanings as well. In Latin, it means to mix, to blend into harmony. The angel appears to be blending the liquid, rather than abstaining from it. The liquid symbolizes the flow of life, the connection between the conscious and the unconscious and the blending of the male and female aspects. Blending logic and intuition, Yin and Yang, light and dark. Temperance is number 14, a number of the moon. It is associated with Sagittarius.

Interpretation:
Temperance means you are able to see both sides of an argument or disagreement clearly. You feel calm and in control. You are able to take whatever fate throws you way. If you have been involved in a dispute, you will be able to end it. It is an excellent card if you are involved in any creative venture. It suggests a well-rounded personality, and a good manager.

Reversed:
Things are out of balance. There are disagreements. You may feel that there is too much to do, and to little time to do it in. It warns against scattering your energy. It also signifies poor judgment, decisions made now will be regretted later. Arguments with a partner are likely.

Makeover Your Home For Spring And Summer
(Without Spending Much Time Or Money!)
by Colleen Moulding

1). Get rid of the clutter. This will instantly make the room look bigger, tidier and make it easier to clean. Get rid of the letters on the shelf, the magazines piled on the coffee table, the shoes in the corner and the
toys behind the sofa. For lots more ideas on controlling clutter read my article Quick Clutter
Control at http://www.allthatwomenwant.com/clutter.htm.  Pass things you don't need on to charity and goodwill stores, women's shelters etc. They will be much appreciated.

2). Stock up on the cloths and cleaning products you need to make the chores as easy as possible and one by
one clean each room from top to bottom. Start with the areas that bother you the most, the ones
that you try to hide from visitors and you will be so pleased that you have conquered these spaces it will motivate you to keep them that way and get all your other rooms ship shape too.

3). Treat your rooms to inexpensive accessories in zingy colours to welcome the sunshine, matching up say table mats, candles and flowers in a dining room, cushions/pillows, vase and rug in a living area, curtains, mugs and oven mitts in a kitchen. These don't have to be expensive items, the strong colour will do the work for you.

4). If you have them, change heavy winter curtains for something lighter. If you're not overlooked consider
voile drapes that dress the window but filter the light in. Make them even prettier by attaching tiny silk rosebuds or bright silk gerbera heads from craft stores.

5). Line all your drawers and cupboards with beautiful paper. An odd roll of previously expensive
wallpaper can often be picked up for a bargain price and can be ideal for this job. Other possibilities are gift wrapping paper, hand stamped or stencilled papers or simply fragranced drawer liners bought on sale, straight after Christmas can be a good time to find these.

6). Make yourself a little sitting out area with a garden chair and a couple of pots of pansies or petunias. Add a pot of herbs or lavender for fragrance and you can work your way out from this area making a garden as
you go. Collect together pots of primulas or busy lizzies (impatiens) and use them to edge steps or line up
along the top of a wall for instant colour. Use pebbles, shells, cones, mirrors, tin buckets and pottery in
your garden as well as the usual terracotta pots and plants.  If you don't have a garden or any outside space, make a little sitting area near an opening window. Place some flowering plants on the window sill and lots of green plants and silk or fresh flowers around for a conservatory feel indoors. Hang some wind chimes and let the breeze make music for you.

7). Paint a dull area a soft buttery yellow for an instant touch of sunshine, or make a busy area tranquil with a pale sage green. Use tester pots to spruce up and coordinate lampshades, photo or picture frames, wicker baskets and flower pots too.

8). Rearrange your furniture. Sometimes just repositioning a table near a window so that you can enjoy the garden at meal times or an armchair closer to the hearth for cosy evenings can completely change the ambiance of a room. Try hanging a mirror so that it reflects light back into the room, lighting up a dark corner or to reflect a wonderful view if you are lucky enough to have one.

9). Frame a large poster to give a room instant impact and style. Museums and art galleries can be a good source of quality posters at reasonable prices. Change them with the seasons for different looks.

10). Make a fabric covered screen from cut to size pieces of mdf board fixed together with piano hinges to screen off eyesores or clutter. Or paint the screen then stamp, stencil or decoupage if you prefer.

11). Make floral patterned cushions/pillows from retro tea dresses picked up cheaply at jumble sales or thrift shops. The used fabric has a lovely soft faded look.

12). If you have any chandelier style lights, consider hanging pretty glass beads from craft shops, antique fairs or little girl's necklaces on to the arms to sparkle in the light.

13). Bring in armfuls of pussy willow or forsythia branches and watch them open up in the warmth of your room.

14). Pretty up a little girl's room in less than a day by fixing up a simple muslin canopy over the bed or a sheer
mosquito net from camping supply shops, hung on to a screw in hook and the ring that comes with it. Decorate the canopy with pink or white silk bows or butterflies from a craft store. Add large pink ribbon bow tie backs to curtains and smaller pink ribbon bows to cupboard and drawer knobs as an extra pretty touch.
Add a self adhesive border around the room or around the window in a fairy, ballet, or pretty doll design and decorate furniture, toy boxes, waste paper bins or walls with individual motifs carefully cut out from the leftover border and simply stuck into place. Weave white Christmas fairy lights around a branch or twigs for a
finishing touch and a place to hang bracelets, hair slides and ribbons.

15). For little boys, why not fix up a play tent above the bed. Add torches, radio and comics for an indoor den he'll want to show off to his friends. Other quick ideas for boy's rooms are stick on glow in the dark stars,
moons and planets and peg rail for the collection of caps no young man of today can be without.
