And so do not forget: every dawn as it comes is a holy event and every day is holy, for the light comes from "WAKAN-TANKA" {The Creator}. And also you must remember that the two-leggeds and all other peoples who stand upon this Earth are sacred and should be treated as such.
~~White Buffalo Calf Woman as quoted by Black Elk , (Oglala Sioux)

White Buffalo Calf Womanbr> by Sibyl Mclendon

I want to share with you the tradition of White Buffalo Calf Woman with you. She is our Sacred Teacher, who brought to us the basis of our Spirituality. Before you read this as simply a legend, or a parable, you should know one thing. The Sacred Bundle that she brought to the American Indian culture is real. It exists even today. It has been kept for at least two thousand years by generations of one family of Lakhota.

<<:::>><<:::>><<:::>>

Many years ago, possibly 2000 years before the White Man invaded North America, the White Buffalo Calf Woman came to visit the Lakota. Before her arrival, the Lakota were in distress. There was widespread famine and starvation. The Sioux Nations fought amongst themselves, and were in danger of extinction.

She first appeared to two Lakota men who were hunting for food. A figure appeared on the horizon, and as it came closer, looked like a white buffalo calf. As the hunters readied their bows, the figure was transformed into a beautiful woman. One of the braves made an improper advance toward the woman. When he touched her, his flesh melted from his bones.

The other man dropped to his knees before her in prayer. The woman explained to him who she was, the White Buffalo Calf Woman, and would come to visit his people, bringing with her a sacred bundle. She commanded him to return to his village and have the people prepare for her visit. The young man, returning to his village and in his excitement, was able to convince his people to do the necessary preparations.

On the day of her visit, all the people gathered together and formed a circle, as she had instructed, with the elders in the center. From the heavens, an apparition of a white buffalo calf descended on a cloud. As it stepped onto the ground, it became The White Buffalo Calf Woman, carrying a sacred bundle,

 the Sacred Pipe.

She spent four days among the people and taught them the meaning of the sacred bundle. She taught the elders how to use the Sacred Pipe to avoid bloodshed, and how they should meet their enemies in council instead of battle. She taught the people the seven sacred ceremonies that are still widely practiced among the Siouan nations; purification, naming, healing, adoption, marriage, vision quest, and the sun dance. She taught them prayer and spiritual songs.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman taught the women many things. They were instructed in the proper storage and preparation of food. They learned how to prepare maize, which would become a staple of their diet. At that time, the Lakota were a totally male dominated society. Never-the-less, the women learned that as the bearer of life they are equal to the men, are the guardians of their own bodies and have a right to choose who they may wish to share themselves with.

Before she left them, she told the people that if they practiced what she had taught, the Lakota would become a great and prosperous nation. She promised to return one day for the sacred bundle, and if necessary, bring harmony and peace again to the world. As she walked away, she again became a buffalo calf, rolled over on the ground, each time changing color, the four colors of humanity; white, black, yellow and red. Just as she had come, she ascended into the sky on a white cloud.

After her visit, the Lakota did indeed become prosperous. The buffalo came in abundance, providing the people with the essentials of life; food, clothing, tools and shelter. The Sioux lived in peace and harmony with Mother Earth.

The sacred bundle is known as the White Buffalo Calf Pipe. It is kept in a sacred place on the Cheyenne River Indian reservation in South Dakota, by a man known as the Keeper Of The White Buffalo Calf Pipe,

Arvol Looking Horse

When The White Buffalo Calf Woman promised to return again, she made some prophecies at that time. One of those prophesies was that the birth of a white buffalo calf would be a sign that it would be near the time when she would return again to purify the world by returning spiritual harmony and balance.

You can clearly see the similarities between White Buffalo Calf Woman appearing to the Lakhota and the Ascension of Jesus Christ. It is my belief that the Creator sent many embodiments of the Christ Consciousness to Earth to teach the various cultures about the proper way to live. White Buffalo Calf Woman is merely one of those embodiments.

"The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us."

Put A Little Love In Your Heart

Artist: Jackie DeShannon
Words and Music by Jackie DeShannon, Jimmy Holiday, and Randy Myers

Think of your fellow man
Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see it's getting late
Oh, please don't hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see

Another day goes by
Still the children cry
Put a little love in your heart
If you want the world to know
We won't let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
All the world will be a better place
For you
And me
You just wait
And see, wait and see

Take a good look around
And if you're looking down
Put a little love in your heart
I hope when you decide
Kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you
And me
You just wait
And see

People, now, put a little love in your heart

Inventory Life Around You and Write It Down
by Michael R. Boyter

Inventory writing is very similar to list writing. In fact, it's almost the same thing with a different twist to it.

It involves writing lists of your possessions or property. One example, would be to write down all the books (or almost all of them) on your bookshelf. I wrote a similar article about this in particular:
Book Shelf

Using this same bookshelf example there are many other areas in your home that you can "inventory". Of course do not list something that would embarrass you or anybody else in your family, but by including
these inventory lists in your family history and autobiographies you not only tell of events in your life but what your life was like, day to day.

Your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have the next best thing to being able to "go back in time" and visit your home as it was during your life.

Time has a funny way of making bland things interesting.

Please remember, though, this is supposed to be fun and I am not saying you need to list everything everywhere! Just a good sampling. This will not only give your family members in the future a chance
to "visit" your home but many of these items will spark more stories to include in your autobiography,
journal or diary.

Here are some ideas of places in and around your home that you may wish to consider inventorying.

INVENTORY LIST IDEAS

Key Chain - What are all of those keys for? A boat? An old truck that you loved?

Your Junk Drawer - We all have one.

Storage Closets

Your Pockets
- What do you have in them right now?

Your Purse

Your Car - What you keep in your car says something

The Desk Draw - Home or work. Do you keep candy in there?

Computer Software - What software have you accumulated?

Bookshelf

Garage or Storage Shed

Keepsake Box - Also a hope chest or footlocker

Home Movies - One tape of our "1992 trip to Canada" for example

Photo albums

CD collection

Your Barn

Medicine Cabinet - Could be used for family medical history. Example, high blood pressure pills could mean
a tendency for it in the family.

Clothes - Clothes and events go hand in hand

Your Yard - If you love hanging your clothes, you may even mention your clothesline.

The People in Your Office - If you don't work in an office, use the people on your street or people from any group that you belong to. These are "players" in your life story.

Manifesting Your Heart's Desire
by Françoise Rapp

What is it we lack the most in our lives? What are the most prominent wishes that seem to manifest our thoughts? Many of my clients tell me, and I'm sure most of you will agree, there are two distinct desires that most of us strive for in our lives:

-To be loved and to love
-To become increasingly stable financially in order to live a "better" life

I have established two unique "rituals" that have helped me realize my goals and dreams. These rituals will allow you to reconnect with those things you truly desire, and will help you to visualize achieving them in your everyday life. It is important to actually visualize your wishes as already manifested and connect with this thought as often as you can.

Manifesting Love
----------------------
Regardless of your relationship status, this ritual can help you bring more love and romance into your life.

Create and set up an altar on which you will place either a pink or red candle with flowers on a scarf of beautiful fabric.  Add any gold, burgundy, red or pink items, beads, or crystals, such as rose quartz, moonstone, or mother of pearl.

Following the principles of Feng Shui, I suggest you place your altar on the far right corner of your house (when standing at the door step).

Ignite the candle, close your eyes and anoint your heart chakra with the following aromatic blend:

Pour the oil essences into a 10-ml bottle, and add vegetable oil to fill.
-3 drops Rose
-6 drops Ylang Ylang
-3 drops
Cinnamon

Say a silent prayer about your heart's desires. Hold the vision of what you wish to see accomplished during your meditation -- envision these events as though they are already in your life:

**Being with the person you love
**Spending wonderful moments with him/her, the joy it brings to your heart with to be with him/her, etc.

Manifesting Prosperity and Abundance
-----------------------------------------------
Create and set up an altar on which you will place a green candle with flowers on a scarf of beautiful fabric. Add any gold or green items, beads, or crystals, such as jade, labradorite, or tourmaline.

Following the principles of Feng Shui, I suggest you place your altar on the far left corner of your house (when standing at the door step).

Ignite the candle, close your eyes and anoint your third eye and sacrum with the following aromatic blend:

Pour the oil essences into
a 10-ml bottle, and add vegetable oil to fill.
-6 drops Peppermint
-4 drops Cinnamon

Say a silent prayer about your heart's desires. Hold the vision of what you wish to see accomplished during your meditation:

**Money coming to you
**Financial security
**Signing contracts, receiving checks, etc.

The Rose

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire face. She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children, and then retire and travel."

"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day. You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old ! and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change. Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."

She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose." She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.

At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY, GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL !!!! --
