Welcome
by Sibyl McLendon

Yá'át'ééh, and welcome to another issue of MousePages. How are you?
Now, I expect each and every one of you to write back to me and tell me
how you are! Anyway, this week, I want to tell you about the lesson
that I learned from my parakeet.
Yes, I did say that I learned something from a parakeet. I suppose that
it is possible that I have too much time on my hands. Moving on...   My
parakeet is named Yazzie. Yazzie is Navajo for small or little. Yazzie
is just your average parakeet, she spends her day eating, cruising
around her cage, and playing with her bell. This past week, Yazzie's
bell broke, and she was fairly miffed about it. So, like the good
parakeet pal that I am, I went to the pet store for a new one. While I
was looking at the bird toys, I also decided to get Yazzie a mirror with
beads on it. My Mother had a parakeet who loved its mirror, and I
thought about what a fine parakeet pal I would be to buy one for Yazzie.
So I took the new bell and the mirror home and put them in her cage.
Yazzie was not a happy budgie! She was really afraid of that mirror.
She felt that I had put another bird into her cage, and she was really
afraid of the newcomer. For the first 12 hours, she cowered as far away
from that mirror as she could. For the next 24 hours, she stayed away
from it, but squawked and hissed and just generally tried to let that
strange thing know who was boss in that cage. I started to think about
removing the mirror, but Bobby told me to wait and see what happened in
another day
or so.
Well, yesterday Yazzie finally got up her courage and went over. Now,
she loves the thing! She plays and plays with it, and the bell is
virtually forgotten. What did I learn, you ask, other than that it pays
to give the average parakeet time to adjust to something new? I learned
that we are all pretty much like Yazzie when it comes to something new
in our lives. We can easily get nervous and let fear take over.
Instead of just strolling right up and checking the new thing in our
lives out, many times we will hang back, try to ignore it or get angry
and try to let it know who is boss. And I think that lots of people
would not be as brave as Yazzie and overcome a new challenge within 48
hours.
So, the next time a challenge comes up in your life, why not ask
yourself if you aren't braver than a little parakeet, stroll right on up
to it and look it squarely in the eye. You may find out, like Yazzie
did, that it is just a mirror, and nothing to be afraid of.
Have a wonderful week, and don't forget to take some time out to play!

How 6 minutes can change your life…. FOREVER!!
By Arun Goel

In this issue, I'm going to tell you about a SINGLE technique that has
helped thousands get over their blues and stress.

Its 2:00 pm, you are in the middle of work – well, chill out for 6
minutes. The 3-STEP routine that follows will DRAMATICALLY improve your
life!!

Sit erect but comfortably in your chair. Do it best by pushing your hips
right up till the backrest so that there is no slouching. Rest your arms
comfortably.

STEP 1: Stimulate relaxation (2 minutes)
Begin by rotating shoulders clockwise and then anticlockwise, 5 times
each. Do it while your arms rest on the side. Bend your head so as to
try touching the shoulder. Do it on
each side (5 times each). Bend your head forward and backwards
alternately. In the
forward bend, press your chin against the neck.

Note: At all times, keep the neck erect. People with cervical problems
should avoid these neck exercises.

How this step works: These exercises ease the pressure on the bunch of
capillaries around the neck. This helps to ease the blood flow into and
out of the brain and stimulates relaxation.

STEP 2: Breath observation (2 minutes)
Close your eyes and “unburden” your mind. Just “observe” your breath. As
you breathe NORMALLY, become aware of the inhalation and the exhalation
process.

Breath awareness works at a subconscious level where one is made aware
that all that exists is really breath – nothing more and nothing less.
This has a remarkable de-stressing effect

STEP 3: Pranayama or Yogic breathing (2 minutes)
Close your eyes. Take GENTLE but DEEP breaths. While inhaling, feel the
air filling in – from the bottom (stomach) and gradually upwards till
the top of the lungs. Then, exhale the same way letting the air get out,
first from the top and then towards the bottom. Repeat 10 times. Better
done when standing.

IMPORTANT: While inhaling feel that you are drinking in fresh oxygen,
happiness and light. While exhaling, feel that you are letting out the
negative emotions, toxins and waste.

This technique called AUTOSUGGESTION is one of the most POWERFUL yet
little known method of Yoga. When done as told, it uses “self
suggestion” to DRAMATICALLY change the outlook to life. Pessimism is
replaced with optimism. Stress is replaced with an inexplicable
calmness. The feeling can only be experienced!!

Believe me, IT REALLY WORKS!!

Thats it !! You're done with your 6-minute yoga. Now for the interesting
part:

Do it regularly and tell me if you're NOT addicted to it. I guarantee
your delight, OR YOUR MONEY BACK – Er, I'm not charging anything… so how
about contributing generously to the Health and Yoga benevolent fund : )

The Judgment Card
by Eagle Dancing

The Judgment card is shown as a Christian image: The Archangel Gabriel
is blowing his horn, and souls are rising out of their graves to greet
him. This idea is not strictly Christian, however. Most mythology
portends some type of rebirth or resurrection. This card relates to the
planet Pluto, joint ruler of Scorpio along with the planet Mars.
The Judgment card in your reading may mean decisions that need to be
made in order for life to get better. If you are worried about a
decision that you made, rest assured that it will have a positive
outcome. It can mean an awakening, coming out of the dark to see things
clearly. You are going to experience new vitality and energy. If you
are concerned with healing, take heart, the illness is over. In terms
of career, everything will be going your way. If you are contemplating
a move, this is the time to do it.

Reversed:
You are delaying making a decision, and it is stagnating your life.
Quit waffling, and make up your mind. You may be in fear of a change in
your life. Emotionally, you may experience a loss in your life. It
could be your job, or the end of a relationship.

What Do We Really Seek In Life?
by Robert Taylor

How many of us truly know what we seek in our lives? Do we confuse our
desires and wants with our needs?

Are we really seeking that new home, job, car, boat, vacation (you may
add anything you can imagine to this list)? Or are we seeking the
"peace that passeth all understanding"?

We are driven by our needs, wants and desires. The greater these are,
the more we are driven. A driven person is not a person who is at
peace. That person's needs, wants and desires keep that individual in a
state of constant turmoil.

Society teaches us we should constantly strive for all the finer things
in life. The paradox is that society dictates what those finer things
should be. The labels society provides cannot fit every individual, for
we are all different. No two of us have the same wants and desires.

My wants and desires may be to live simply and peacefully. Inasmuch as
my needs for food, clothing and shelter are met, I am at peace. There
is no concern about having the most toys, or the biggest home, or the
most money, or the fanciest automobile.

Society says that unless we have these things or at least strive to
achieve them, we are failures. This can only hold true when we allow
society to dictate to us.

There are many people who, in the eyes of society at large, are abysmal
failures. However, in the opinion of those closest to them, they may be
considered the greatest of successes.

Consider those who live simply and within their means. They are totally
free of debt and the worries that come with being in debt. Another
thought to bear in mind is the fact that inasmuch as you owe any other
person or institution, you are a slave to that person or institution.

Ponder this thought! Do not lightly pass it by.

So long as you owe another person or institution, you are a slave to
that person or institution.

Our basic needs for food, shelter and clothing are relatively easy to
satisfy. It is when we desire a 20-room mansion for a four-person
family that we place ourselves in stressful situations.

How much is enough? That depends on what you want out of life. Too
many people tell us we are foolish to settle for anything less than the
latest model automobile, a beautiful and well landscaped home, a great
amount of money in the bank and on and on. Are we really foolish to not
want these
things?

Would we not be better off to have sufficient for all our needs that we
don't have to worry about them? We can spend the time we would have
wasted trying to accumulate the most toys on much better things. Some of
these would be more quality time with our families, the time to really
enjoy all the beauty surrounding us, and more time for spiritual
development.

An individual who is stressed out cannot enjoy the beauty abounding on
this earth. This is easily explained. When you are truly ill and
hurting all over, your pains and illness dominate your thoughts. When
you are in excellent health and high spirits, everything about you takes
on a new
nature and is viewed from a different perspective.

The choice is simple, but not necessarily easy. Live simply and free of
stress within your means according to your own dictates, or endure the
striving and stress of keeping up with the dictates of society.

The Power Of Music

Secret O' Life
James Taylor

The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time
Any fool can do it
There ain't nothing to it
Nobody knows how we got to
The top of the hill
But since we're on our way down
We might as well enjoy the ride

The secret of love is in opening up your heart
It's okay to feel afraid
But don't let that stand in your way
'Cause anyone knows that love is the only road
And since we're only here for a while
Might as well show some style
Give us a smile

Isn't it a lovely ride
Sliding down
Gliding down
Try not to try too hard
It's just a lovely ride

Now the thing about time is that time
Isn't really real
It's just your point of view
How does it feel for you
Einstein said he could never understand it all
Planets spinning through space
The smile upon your face
Welcome to the human race

Some kind of lovely ride
I'll be sliding down
I'll be gliding down
Try not to try too hard
It's just a lovely ride

Now the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time
