Welcome Letter

by Dream Walker McLendon

Yá'át'ééh, and welcome to MousePages, and to December!  I am staring a birthday in the face.  I know that I am getting older.  Time flies by, gravity is taking its toll, and little things seem so much more precious to me these days.  A birthday is always a time of great reflection for me.  What did I accomplish this past year, what am I going to do with the year that is starting?  Every day is a gift, and if I do not open it up and reveal what is beneath the pretty wrapping, I am wasting it.

So, to that end, I have decided to start using my Navajo name here, and to let Sibyl go.  I want to spend my days as Dream Walker, and to accept the gift that it gives me to be her.  I have come to believe that Dream Walker is a better person than Sibyl, as strange as that may sound.  Dream Walker is not carrying around the burden basket that Sibyl has attached to her back.  Dream Walker is living in her Hozho, her balance and harmony.  So, I am going to explore my life as Dream Walker, and see where that path leads me!

I have told you about my friend, Kathy Browning, and her new site, Blue Moon Designs.  Well, she has just become a sponsor of the Indiana Make a Wish Foundation.  This foundation grants the wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.  Kathy has a goal of raising the money to grant a child's wish by the end of the year.  To work towards this goal, she is donating a percentage of every sale from her site to the foundation.  I would like to encourage all of you to buy at least one thing from Kathy's site this month.  You can get a great gift for someone, while you are also doing a wonderful thing to help a sick child.  You will be doing a random act of kindness, and isn't that what this season is all about?  Go to

http://www.blue-moon-designs.com

today, and buy something.  Remember:  "No man is so tall as when he stoops to help a child."  Bless you.

We lost a truly spiritual person this past week, George Harrison.  This musician dedicated his life to the search for personal spirituality, and to helping his fellow human beings.  He will be missed.  He is the lucky one, though; he is now where he was searching for all of his life.

I want to thank the people who responded to my call for help in creating a healing circle.  You are the blessed.  And for the rest of you, if you forgot, just email me to join:  navajomouse@hotmail.com

Have a wonderful week!

Sciatica

By Pat Valle

The sciatic nerves are the largest nerves in the body and start at the lower part of the spine, runs across the buttocks, into the leg, calf and foot. Sciatica may be caused by pressure on the nerve such as a pinched nerve, vertebra or disk problem, high heels, calcium depletion, lack of exercise or poor posture. Another problem that may need medical treatment could be due to a ruptured disk. In this case an ex-ray may be indicated to find the extent of the damage.

The pain associated with Sciatica can be irritating or severe and debilitating. The pain usually starts in the buttocks area and runs down the back of the leg to the ankle. Some other sensations may be weakness, tingling or burning or a constant sharp pain which makes it difficult to walk or move around. In some cases the pain will subside or re-occur at intervals. Applying ice packs or wet heat can sometimes relieve the pain. Topical applications of Tiger Balm or a homeopathic ointment or gel such as Triflora can be massaged into the painful areas to give relief.

There are a number of nutritional supplements that may be helpful in reducing the pain and inflammation of the nerve. Essential fatty acids such as fish, flax and primrose oil aids in reducing inflammation and nourishes the nervous system. Super green foods like Kyo-Green and others help strengthen and rid the body of stored up toxins. Calcium-rich foods also add minerals which are important to rebuild nerve health. Eat plenty of green vegetables, sea greens, spinach, whole grains, seeds and nuts. Make sure to drink plenty of bottled water to hydrate the tissues to prevent build-up of uric acids.

Try using a firm mattress and do not sleep on your stomach. If the mattress is not firm enough, place a board between the box spring and the mattress. If the Sciatic pain becomes too severe and lasts for a long period of time with no relief, consult with a health care professional. Surgery may be indicated it it becomes too debilitating or a disc has ruptured.

Isn't It A Pity

By George Harrison

There'll come a time when all of us must leave here

Then nothing sister Mary can do

Will keep me here with you

As nothing in this life that I've been trying

Could equal or surpass the art of dying

Do you believe me?

There'll come a time when all your hopes are fading

When things that seemed so very plain

Become an awful pain

Searching for the truth among the lying

And answered when you've learned the art of dying

But you're still with me

But if you want it

Then you must find it

But when you have it

There'll be no need for it

There'll come a time when most of us return here

Brought back by our desire to be

A perfect entity

Living through a million years of crying

Until you've realized the Art of Dying

Do you believe me?

Celebrating now!

by Angela Jackson

Did you ever wonder why the present never ages? Have you heard the saying: "Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, today's a gift, that's why we call it the present?" When asked, most of us acknowledge that yes, it's important to live in the present, to be here now. But are we? We may admit that each moment is precious yet for many of us it's only when time seems to stop, when we are in the midst of a tragedy or faced with our own immortality that we honor the knowledge and seize the second. In the words of William Henry Davis, we "take the time to stop and stare". The rest of the time we live as if there were endless amounts of time waiting for us, as if each mili second was like a penny, small change, insignificant. And so we say the careless words, we put off the phone call, we defer the family gathering and avoid telling the person how much we love them, as if..........

I had one of those wake up calls this summer when my mammogram came back with suspicious spots. Then there was the long fearful wait for surgery, and the realization that I'd been spending too much time doing tasks I didn't enjoy and relegating what I liked best until last, kind of an "eat your veggies first" approach to time-management. My family time came when I was tired and any socializing seemed an ordeal. Waiting for the operation gave me valuable life-searching time, and when it was done and I got the happy results, I began prioritizing. Now I start out doing what I love right off the bat and get to administration last. I take "me" breaks throughout out the day - to stretch, to contact loved ones, to appreciate what is.

I think each one of us needs to tune into now, treasuring moments, savoring experiences, because we don't know how many more we'll have! And so I urge you, pay attention to the gifts in front you, to the people who bless your life and to the situations that bring you growth or understanding.

Think about it this way. To appreciate the value of one month, think about the mother of a little child who has a terminal illness To recognize the importance of one day, picture a daily laborer who has many mouths to feed. To value one hour, imagine lovers who are counting seconds until they meet. To become conscious of the importance of one minute watch the person who has just missed his train. Be grateful for all the exquisite moments in your life, for all the people and possibilities that are here right now!

Seeing Through Change

by Ian Percy

During a consultation with an optometrist you will put your face against a machine called an auto-refractor. The doctor will flip various lens in front of each eye asking constantly, "Does this make it clearer or worse?"

The application of the metaphor comes easily. We'll just use a Life Chart instead of an eye chart. Does your job make your ability to see what is really important, clearer or worse? Flip. Did your parents make your vision of the world clearer or worse? Flip. How about the lens of education? Flip. What contribution has your marriage made to your vision? Flip. How about the promotion you got last year? Flip. Your own heart attack? Flip. What did going through the re-engineering project do to you? Flip.

Change is simply combination of such lenses. These change lenses are positive factors in our lives only if we can see THROUGH them to something beyond the lens itself. If the lenses are smudged and dirty we start to focus on them rather than on what they were meant to reveal to us. We start to look AT the lens rather than THROUGH it and end up in a lot of stress.

Many lenses are available to you. Accounting lenses and medical lenses. Lenses for artists and homemakers. A being laid off lens and a being hired lens. Another if you're a man and another if you are a woman. There is one for poverty and one for wealth. Not one of these lenses is an end in itself. Each is simply a viewpoint THROUGH which to get a glimpse of the landscape beyond. Change always reveals something beyond itself.

Some of the lenses of our lives make things clearer in the spiritual sense, while others fog and cloud both our out-sight and in-sight. We need to learn how to positively impact the ratio of the two. It's a spiritual version of what the Endeavor astronauts had to do for the ailing Hubbell space telescope. In addition to installing gyroscopes to keep things in balance, they replaced the Wide Field Planetary Camera so the telescope could see and record things more clearly. That's what we need -- a Wide Field Planetary Camera for our personal and corporate souls. Come to think of it, we may need a gyroscope too. Change is the opportunity of a lifetime, learn to see THROUGH it.

The Sword in The Stone / Intent

by Susan James

Deepak Chopra makes this statement: 'Intention is a force of nature, just like gravity.'

If you have read any of his writings or listened to any of his tapes, he has always been a huge advocate of decision and focus. All three words mean basically the same thing.

These are action words. These are Thoughtform words. Assuming that we all trust the Law of Gravity, and although may not have a scientific understanding of how it works, we have a general knowing, trust and belief of it simply working.

Chopra has said that stating an intention is an unseeable force, just like gravity. What if this is true, which I happen to know by my own experience that it is true, then we have the power of the 'sword in the stone'. We know how to remove the sword from the stone. It is with the power of intention.

Stating a pure intention, making a decision about something simply makes it so. Do you believe that? Can you wrap your thoughts around that?

When you state an intention...... and then just let it go...... it happens. But many of us get in our own way by adding the word but..... or we question, or we doubt.

A pure intent, is with no wavering doubt. That is a mixed message to the Universe. Sometimes to get yourself out of that Jam of negating your intention and not get caught up in the 'hows'.... is to say: 'I have no idea how this is gonna work out... but I just trust that it does'. And if you are hit with another negating thought, you just un-negate it with that statement again. It will work out somehow.

Many of my intentions have been placed around unknown things. Power to do things, go beyond the norm. In order for me to accomplish this, I first have to re-arrange my thinking.

Humans see all the steps necessary or what they think is necessary to accomplishing a goal. Spirit sees the end result. Period. Spirit sees the manifestation, the end result period. We have to teach ourselves backwards of what we think we 'know'.

Part of my own learning here is thru intent. I simply intend to manifest as spirit and not as human. I am seeing it happen in some ways and as I practice this I simply get better at it.

But it has all started with an intention.
