Welcome Letter
by Sibyl McLendon

Yá'át'ééh! I hope you all had a good holiday,
the ones in the U.S. anyway. I finally got my
new hard drive from my son, and I am slowly getting
back to normal. It is wonderful to have all this memory!
I wish that I could transfer some of it to my brain.

I have an idea tht I would like to get all of you
involved in. As you probably know, Bobby and I have
a healing basket, where prayer requests of all kinds
are placed and then prayed over. I would really like
to start a world-wide prayer circle! When we receive
prayer requests, I would then send an email to everyone
in the circle, asking them to put the request into their
"basket" as well, and pray over it. All of you who feel
as if you can donate just a little time to this, please
email me. It does not take much time, or effort, but you
can touch the life of a stranger, receive some healing
energy for yourself and stock up what my Mother called
"brownie points in Heaven". Please, consider this.
If you are interested, please email me at
navajomouse@hotmail.com
Here is your opportunity to do a random act of kindness
and send out good energy, which will come back to you
in amazing ways!

Have a wonderful week. Try not to stress about the holidays.

Benefits of Bee Propolis and Honey
by Pat Valle

Bees collect a resinous substance from leaves
and bark of trees and convert it with their own
enzymes to make a waxy material that protects
the hive from harmful bacteria. This is called
Propolis. It acts as a natural antibiotic which
not only protects the bees but humans as well by
inhibiting staph infection and preventing bacteria
cell division. It is also used a natural antibiotic
but works against viruses as well.

It is a miracle of nature that fights all kinds of
infections and disease by stimulating and strengthening
the immune system. Propolis contains all 22 nutrients
needed for perfect health. It also contains, minerals,
proteins, amino acids, hormones and enzymes. It is said
to be the safest way to increase energy.

The uses of Propolis are well documented and the benefits
are outstanding. People who use this notice a reduction
of colds and flu, relieves coughing and irritated
throat membranes. Since it is rich in flavonoids and
the B-vitamins, it can be used internally as well as
externally. Internally it can be used for respiratory
problems, elevated blood pressure, circulation, asthma,
ulcers and many others. Externally, Propolis can clear
up nail fungus, infections, burns, acne and aid in healing
broken bones.

I do not recommend the use of this product for people who
have had allergic reactions to bee stings or bee pollen.

One company I would recommend would be P-Bee Products
that can be found in many health food stores. They have
liquid extracts as well as capsules and I find the quality
exceptional. They carry three liquid extracts that range
from 10%, 20% and 55%. The 10% can be used as a gargle for
sore throats and irritated membranes and the 20% is a
non-alcoholic extract for those who cannot use alcohol
and the third is the 55% which I have used many times
for infections. It can be applied directly to an infection
and will heal it quite rapidly. It does have one draw back
in that is can stain the area a brown color. When used
internally, be sure to dilute it in warm water so as not
to stain the teeth.

Honey is another extraordinary healer. Most people think
that it is just used as a sweetener or an alternative to
sugar. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes and
has natural antiseptic qualities. It can also be used
externally for healing of wounds and also applied to burns.
The enzymes help prevent infection. It is also used to
promote energy because of its large amounts of carbohydrates.
People who are diabetic need to be very cautious because
it can affect blood sugar levels. Never give an infant or
small child honey because there is a bacteria that can
cause botulism toxins. It is safe to use after the child
is over a year old.

Adversity Brings Personal Growth
by Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D.

We all experience crisis in our lives. Setbacks such as
illness, divorce, layoffs and deaths in our families
often come unexpectedly. Our future happiness and success
are determined by how we react to our misfortunes.
We can learn how to be more resilient from others.

As a survivor of a life-changing event, I have learned
from experience how to bounce back in the face of
adversity. On June 13, 1998, I was crushed by a large
falling tree while riding my bicycle on a pathway.
As a result, I am paralyzed. Lost is my ability to stand
or walk without the aid of crutches, something most of us
take for granted. I am dependent on my wheelchair
for getting me around the house and community.
Coping with the losses that this tragedy brought me,
has been extremely difficult.

When all your hopes and dreams are suddenly shattered,
your life is rocked to the core. You look within yourself
to find strength. A large dose of self determination
and tenacity can project you forward.

In order to restore my independence, which I so desperately
wanted to regain, I had to learn to do many things all
over again. This time in a new way. Simple tasks like dressing
and showering seemed impossible. I wanted my life back,
the way it was before I was injured. My guiding motivation
is that there will be a hopeful future. I do what is
necessary to move towards restoring function and mobility.

In the past year and a half I have gained new insights
on how to step forward after the adversity changed my life.
I discovered that by setting goals, more progress was being
made. The progress that you want to achieve needs to be in
the form of written goals. Make a mental note of what
small steps you need to initiate and accomplish in order
to achieve your goals. These steps become tasks to attain.
In my continuing journey of recovery and rehabilitation,
I have learned many lessons that I have turned into
rules to live by.

One simple guideline I follow in order to accomplish
my goals is to do something new every day. No matter how
small the act, let any activity count. You are the judge.
Each new pursuit should be in line with your goals.

An example of a new task I was determined to do was
putting on my shoes. I had to learn how to get dressed
in my wheelchair. My shoes were the last item of clothing
that I needed assistance putting on. My feet are paralyzed
and I use my hands and arms to position my shoes on my feet.
This task involved having the ability to bend one leg
and cross it on top of the other knee. It also involved
strengthening and flexing the muscles in my legs in order
to bring my foot to my knee. A series of exercises which
I performed at home resulted in the needed strength and
flexibility. Each day brought me closer to the joy of
victory. After about a month of practicing, I was finally
able to independently put both shoes on my feet.

The act of doing something new every day needs to be
a conscious habit. Upon awaking in the morning, and before
getting out of bed, focus on what the new activity will be
for that day. Your conscious mind may come up with the
behavior immediately. If nothing comes to mind, allow your
subconscious mind to work on it throughout the day. It is
important that you resurface the thought of doing something
new, then take action to complete the task.

This may be hard to accomplish at first. The day can get
away from you. Do what you can in the time remaining before
you sleep. Then the next morning, start contemplating an
activity that is feasible to accomplish for that day.

You may find yourself resisting new activities. Sometimes
we put up mental roadblocks and say, "I can't". Recognize
when you mentally limit your pursuits because you believe
that you can't accomplish the task. What at first seems
impossible, may just likely be possible.

It is important that you recognize your progress and take
pride in your accomplishments. Share your achievements
with others. Brag a little. The recognition and support
of those around you is nurturing.

Adversity precedes growth. As you start working towards
your goals and realizing progress, you will be encouraged
to attempt ever more challenging activities in the days
ahead. Take time to look back. Looking back teaches you
how far you have come and reinforces your belief in your
abilities. Soon you will see that the crisis in your life
has brought you new insights and meaning. You will become
different in some way having had to face the adversity.

The Power Of Music

We Shall Be Free
(Garth Brooks/Stephanie Davis)

This ain't comin' from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand

When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there's shelter over the poorest head
We shall be free

When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
Then we shall be free

We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud
'Cause we shall be free
When we're free to love anyone we choose
When this world's big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
Then we shall be free
We shall be free

We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out
'Cause we shall be free

And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there's only one race and that's mankind
Then we shall be free

We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
We shall be free

We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith

We shall be free
